Sick sock

Having a shocking time in my sick bed
I can only muster knitting a sock
Throat ready to abscess..
So on with the antibiotic to kill the bad bugs .. And taking a probiotic to give me good bugs..
Bizarre ..
Picked my first Pierre de ronsard..
Waiting for my wedding day climber to bloom..

Life throws a curve ball

Well it did this week
My little man (grandson) had an accident at school and broke his arm
In all of our family no one has ever broken a bone of any description
It was a nasty one requiring a hospital stay..
Home now ..
Poor little man is trying his best to be brave..
Then I have finally got the lurgie..
Last man standing.,
You know the 21 drips per minute..
Sore razor blade throat .. Damn it
Had an icy pole for breakfast..
It's going to be a glorious weekend too

Rare rainy day..

Here in oz we have one of those rare rainy heavy days.,
I'm happy that we don't get many of these..
We will probably have some blue sky sometime today
The only plus side to this is the air smells amazing
Fresh .. Grassy.., pine filled .. Reminds me of Spain or Portugal .. Very fragrant indeed..
So what's on the knitting agenda?
Hubby needs more socks .. Well he doesn't really ..,
But since I have been knitting in Lorna's laces solemate...
These are definitely the favorite
Made with outlast ..Temperature control fibre.. this yarn ticks all the boxes.. especially as our temps fluctuate so much and are a tad on the high side ..
So inbetween crochet and a bit of sock knitting .. rainy days are a welcome distraction

Playing hooky

Sunny Sunday morning..again
Here at little cottage in golden bay.. It is extremely quite..lovely
There is an ironman contest on from 5am to 1 pm ..
The main artery road that leads to our little piece of oz .. Is closed...
So no traffic
I am sat on the front verandah listening to little cooing doves and I can hear the tin roof starting to expand as the sun fires up
I can smell the honeysuckle and jasmine ...lovely..
Of course I am still crocheting my new project..
Just like a shiny new toy I can't put it down
Good luck to all the ironman entrants
90 km bike ride.. 2 km swim ..and 20 or so km run..
I am happy where I am thank you

I am sooo loving this..,

New beginnings..

6.25 am
Still a tad tired..
But the creative juices are all ready and raring to go...
The aftermath of crocheting any substantial project ..is that it leaves you a bit high and dry..
You have had the journey .. The hooking pleasure.. The joy..the anticipation.. and then you have .. The end..
You then find that you truly miss it..
The blanket that has been with you for so long..
You then have to find a suitable replacement .. not as easy as it sounds
there is a lot of soul searching.. and lot of hmmming and ahhing..
You have to wait until something hits the spot..
Sometimes it takes a while for this to happen .. this has been the case..
Or sometimes it can be instantaneous...not the case this time
Until I came across this yarn
Usually it is the yarn that does it..

My Betty blanket is finally finished
The border colors reflect the recipient as the naming of the blanket is too
I hope that she will love it for many years to come..
Yes.. I had a great time with this crocheted lovely.. And I'm going to miss it
I'll have to find a new shiny toy to play with
As long as it contains wool and a hook!!

30 blocks finished

I have finished the 30 crochet blocks for the Betty blanket .. Woohoo
Now to put them together and play around with where they will need to stay for the making up.
Then to choose a border .. I have already chosen the colours which were decided by the soon to be recipient

I'm in the zone

Temperature dropped 10 degrees today...weird..
Gee I know someone who's in the zone
Sure cats can smell a granny square a mile off
Oh yeah .. I'm there baby..

Hot day ..,

Hot day today
Beach visit .. Deffo..
We are so lucky to have the Indian Ocean on our doorstep..
We have a hot easterly wind .. Or should I say breeze..
But this wind is coming in from inland so does not cool things down
But the ocean does
It cools.. Refreshes ..and revives
We don't go down till around 3 as the sun is too hot .. Even with a breeze..
So a lazy day
Started with a bit of knitting with a long lost and found again yarn .. 100% pure silk in the palest of ballet pink .. Reminds me of bonpoint in Paris where their wrapping and beautiful little bags were all that pale pink..
Oh and planting some forget me knots ..here's hoping.xx
